Wilhelms Gedächtnes Kirche Smoked Fish at Ka Da We Church Monument on a different day
We had a great time in Berlin. It has an interesting mix of old and new buildings. We took care of some laundry and took it easy at a cool hotel called Hotel Bogota. The Hotel Bogota used to be the ministry of culture for the Nazis.

We saw some historic sites, Check point Charlie, Ka Da We department store, where they have a floor devoted entirely to food, and the German parliment building, the Reichtag. The Reichtag has a dome that you can walk around and see a panoramic view of Berlin...really cool.

One day a friend of Mark´s parents took us to Sansouci and showed us around Potsdam. Klaus is the son of Ursula´s Aunt Gertrude. Sansouci was the summer palace of Frederick the Great. He is also buried there.

We also visited Mark´s cousins in Kehrigk, about 1.5 hour SE of Berlin. It sure was nice to have a home cooked meal. They live in the house where Mark´s Dad grew up.

From Berlin we moved on to the Rhine Valley.
