Wine tasting Wine tasting The castle in Bacharach, also a Youth hostel
The Rhine valley was really beautiful. It is a famous German wine region, so of course we sampled some Rieslings. We also took a cruise on the Rhine to a nearby town, St. Goar. Here the main attraction is Castle Rheinfels. It is castle ruins, but still semi-intact. There are catacombs that run underneath. They can be toured by candelight. We tried, but turned back when we didn´t know where we were going....wouldn´t want to spend the night down there!

We stayed for two nights, then moved on to Rothenburg, but unfortunately due to a small mispelling on the automated train information, we put ourselves in Rothenbürg which is in the opposite direction of where we wanted to be....see next posting : )
